A.Obviously it is
hurting collections but most of the protests are in areas that Jodhaa Akbar was
always likely to struggle anyway because of its pace. If we look at places like
Indore, Bhopal and Patna the opening was about 50% lower than the national
average of 75%. The film is stronger in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengal and South and so
far these areas have been more or less trouble free. If the problems occur in
these areas then the damage will be bigger. Moreover the bigger problem was the
multiplex revenue sharing problem as the film is going to get most of its
revenue from plexes.

it drops further and ends Thursday with 40% means anything from coverage to
Above Average. But it seems small centres will not sustain.

A. No these films are
aimed for universal audience while Rab Ne Bana Di jodi is for families and
families prefer later shows. Ghajini and Chandni Chowk To China should start
huge from first show as both are action films for the masses. The only way the
start could be lower is if the release is well over the top in terms of shows
and cinemas.
Q. What
will the profits for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi?
A. The film will make
huge money. The costs of the film are 40 crore including release costs and the
minimum returns are 30 crore in India, 20 crore Overseas, 20 crore satellite
and around 10 crore+ from other revenue sources. So thats around 80 crore
revenue on 40 crore costs and the revenue figures are minimum and will
probably end up being higher.
