The Real Winner With Dhadak

Dhadak is a HIT at the box office and its mainly about how the industry has got two new stars which is not true as only a handful of newcomers becomes stars with their first films. Even a Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt had to wait for Main Tera Hero and 2 States respectively to hit stardom.

So its basically about what happens post Dhadak here for the newcomers in this film and can they establish themselves.
It will beat the numbers of Student Of The Year in a couple of days time to become the highest grossing films with newcomers. Dhadak will the highest GROSSER with newcomers in a leading role not the biggest HIT as there are films like Bobby (1973), Betaab (1983) and Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989) which are possibly in the 300 crore nett plus level today with 3 crore or even more footfalls.

The real winner with Dhadak is Shashank Khaitan who has given a hatrick of hits in his first three films. The film had that desi earthy touch which is what worked for the film. The families have kept away due to the climax but the mass youth has lapped the film up.

Shashank Khaitaan has gone more earthy with each of his films with Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhnaia being a semi desi film and then to the earthy Badrinath Ki Dulhania and now Dhadak is one up on Badrinath Ki Dulhania as fas as the rural feel is concerned.

There are complaints that it does not compare well with the original Marathi film Sairat from where Dhadak is adapted but that same film will never work in Hindi as the demands of commercial Hindi cinema are different.
The test for Khaitan will be now as bigger numbers will be expected now and they only come with a bigger canvas and to have the big canvas with a earthy feel is not easy unless you go the period film.

But no after 3 hit films on the bounce he is one of the bankable directors in the country of which there are very few. The directors to give a hatrick of hits in their first three films are as follows.

Sooraj Barjatya (Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Hum Saath Saath Hain)
Indra Kumar (Dil, Beta, Raja)

Aditya Chopra (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi)

Rajkumar Hirani (Munnabhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munnabhai, 3 Idiots)

Sajid Khan (Heyy Babyy, Housefull, Housefull 2)

Shashank Khaitan (Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Dhadak)

Rajkumar Hirani has now given five hits as his first five films which matches the legend Manoj Kumar who also had the same feat until the sixth film Clerk flopped.

Note - Sooraj Barjatya, Aditya Chopra and Indra Kumar delivered a hatrick of blockbusters while two of Rajkumar Hirani films out of first three were also Blockbusters. The records of Sajid Khan and Shashank Khaitaan are similar with 1 Super Hit and 2 Hits.
